Good signs as the Cairns property market makes an active start to 2017
THE Cairns property market has started the new year in flying form.

Several deals have already been struck in the early days of 2017, leaving local real estate experts upbeat about the months ahead.

Local couple Corey and Amanda Vecchio on Wednesday became the owners of a new four-bedroom Smithfield home.

They bought the Whipbird Drive property, formerly a David McCoy display home, for $625,000.

After moving to Cairns from Sydney last year, the pair is excited to have entered the Far North property market.

“The layout, design and area ticked all the boxes for us,” Mr Vecchio said.

“Homes are much more affordable here than Sydney. The plan is to stay here for the long term.”

A five-bedroom house at 28 Gloucester St, Whitfield, also sold on Wednesday, fetching $756,000.

A property at Red Peak Estate, Caravonica, this week collected $580,000.

After a sluggish start to last year, Far North real estate experts are confident the first half of 2017 will deliver better results.
